I've noticed that there are a lot of employment listings for videographers on craigslist.com and the different job boards. I mean there are A LOT of them. However, they all seem to lack real understanding of what professional video production is, and what it is capable of doing for them.
First of all, many are asking for free, or cheap services. They will often say "perfect for s student film maker'" or "will be great material for your reel." Yet, in the same ad they will be asking for some rather complex production services which an inexperienced producer will not be able to pull off well.
Secondly, it's obvious that the person who wrote the help wanted ad probably has no detailed idea of what they want to achieve with the video.
The result of this is that we are not seeing many great videos being accomplished.
Do yourself, and the video production community a favor, by budgeting for, and hiring a professional video producer and team to make yor video the right way. Chances are they won't need it for their "reel," but they will make you a video that will bring results for a long time to come.
